E-mail & Newsreader Questions

I'm seeing Unwanted News/E-mail Involving OSU Systems

I'm being bombed with a large number of E-mail messages - what can I do?

Someone from one of OSU's address blocks is sending bad E-mail to us.

I saw a posting from an OSU news server which was forged.

In general, please first check the headers of the news or E-mail and verify that it is either coming from, or going to an OSU system. You can find a pretty good tutorial on reading email headers at http://www.stopspam.org/email/headers.html

Next, if you have verified that an OSU address was involved in the message, please contact the IT Service Desk. They can be contacted by phone at (614) 688-HELP, or by E-mail at 8help@osu.edu. They will route your request to the appropriate group.

I'm Receiving Harassing E-mail - How Can I Stop It?

If you are receiving E-mail which is threatening in some way, you should contact the OSU Police Department at (614) 292-2121. If you feel that your life is in danger, call 911.
